Anyone who’s ever worked in the service industry knows that customer interactions can get uncomfortably personal, fast. For women, this is arguably a more common experience. But one UK bar is letting all of its patrons know off the bat that it won’t tolerate any harassment of its female bar staff.

Beer Cellar in Exeter made waves last week when their Twitter posted this now-viral sign: “This is definitely our favourite sign in the bar. Also if dudes could stop trying to kiss our female bartender’s hands that would be great.”

First of all: probably don’t kiss your bartender’s hands, no matter what gender they are. And while it’s pretty terrible that this was happening enough for the bar to put up a sign about the phenomenon. But, the no-nonsense sign straddles that line between serious and cheeky, much like that bad Tinder date bathroom sign which went viral a while back.

Naturally, the sign garnered some opposition from folks who don’t believe that this harassment could be anything serious.

But, it appears that the staff behind the bar isn’t totally against any type of customer critique:

Some ppl have pointed out that the word ‘cretin’ is ableist, so we talked to @charlubby and got a new version all can enjoy! Except bellends
